Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Last updated · May 2026

Your privacy matters. Cupid collects only what we need to run the product, and we never sell your personal data to third parties.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you create a Cupid account or use our app, you may provide:

  • Account details — name, username, email address, and password
  • Profile information — age, gender, bio, location (city/region), photos, hobbies, interests, and astrology sign
  • Communication content — messages, posts, and comments you send through the app
  • Preferences — discovery settings, age range preferences, and privacy choices

Information collected automatically

  • Device information — device type, operating system, and app version
  • Usage data — how you interact with profiles, features you use, and time spent in the app
  • Location data — approximate region from your IP address (not precise GPS)
  • Last active time — to show when you were last online (you can disable this)

Information from third parties

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Show your profile to other users and suggest relevant profiles
  • Enable messaging and social features
  • Improve discovery and the overall app experience
  • Send notifications about connections, messages, and app updates
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or terms violations
  • Respond to support requests

We do not use your personal data for advertising or sell it to marketers.

3. Sharing Your Information

With other users

Your profile information (name, photos, bio, interests, astrology sign, and location region) is visible to other Cupid users in discovery and on your profile. Your email address and password are never shared with other users.

With service providers

We work with trusted third-party services to operate the app:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
  • Google — optional sign-in via Google OAuth
  • Expo — push notifications

These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are bound by data protection agreements.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

We never sell your personal data.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transfers
  • Encrypted storage for sensitive information
  • Row-level security policies so you only access your own data
  • Regular security reviews and updates

No system is 100% secure. Use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

Data retention

We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

5. Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct — update inaccurate information via profile settings
  • Delete — permanently delete your account and associated data
  • Restrict — limit profile visibility (hide last seen, go undiscoverable)
  • Portability — request an export of your data
  • Object — object to certain processing of your data

To exercise these rights, contact Lucashedrix5@gmail.com.

In-app privacy controls

  • Show me on Cupid — toggle off to leave the discover feed
  • Hide last seen — prevent others from seeing when you were last active
  • Block users — block specific users from seeing your profile

6. Children's Privacy

Cupid is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover a user is under 18, we will delete their account.

If you believe a minor has created an account, contact Lucashedrix5@gmail.com.

7. Cookies & Tracking

The Cupid mobile app does not use traditional browser cookies. We use secure local storage on your device to:

  • Maintain your login session
  • Remember preferences (for example, theme)
  • Cache data locally for a faster experience

We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.

Continued use of Cupid after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
